Description
A traditional silver amulet pendant set with small turquoise from Ladakh in the himalayan regions in N. India. Worn by the mainly buddhist population this pendant, or Gau as its called, would have been part of a longer necklace comprising several of these as well as a larger, central prayer box. It has an open back, which at some point may have been closed with copper, and rustic repoussé on the front with the stylised drove at the bottom.
