Description
Large antique silver pendant depicting Ganesh sourced in Rajasthan N. India. A religious centre piece of this size would not be worn on a daily basis, rather it would be brought out as item of power during special occasions and could even be used as a shrine piece or to decorate a temple image. Ganesh, the elephant headed god, was the son of Shiva and Parvati and is one of the most loved indian deities. He is used as the guardian of gateways, his image will often be seen above doors and gates all through Rajasthan, and also on a more personal level as the remover of obstacles. Displaying a lovely regional style, this collectable piece also still shows the colourful vermillion paste used in the worship, or Puja, of this idol as well as a great patina indicative of a well loved object.
