Description
A small, silver Spirit lock pendant from the animistic Hmong tribe, Laos. Used as a central lock on a large, silver neckpiece these protective amulets are worn with the belief that they help keep the soul locked inside the body, unable to escape or be lost and therefore causing harm or distress to the wearer. Also given to children early in their lives, they would then be worn in multiples whilst all still providing the function of clasp for the traditional necklace. Decorated with attractive local tribal carving and displaying evidence of use, this pendant is a great wearable example of the Hmong aesthetic.
