Description
Large antique silver prayer holder from Tamil Nadu S. India. This pendant is a wonderful example of a South Indian amulet called Jantar or Taviz, used for holding and carrying sacred scripts by priests or holy men on a daily basis. Made of high grade silver, this amulet has a long screw the length of the body with which to open the internal space and it has a well worn, soft patina indicative of a long time used. A bold and striking piece.
